My family is planning a summer DCL vacation. We're having a hard time choosing between the 7 day eastern or 7 day western. Any ideas? Our children will be 7 and 10.

There are a few differences between these two voyages, although each itinerary will offer a boatload of fun aboard the Disney Magic.

The Eastern itinerary offers 3 ports of call and 3 full days at sea.
The Western itinerary sails to 4 ports of call with 2 full days at sea.

Eastern ports are St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay (with a few times of year going to Tortola or St. Croix instead of St. Maarten).

Western ports are Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay.

Eastern ports offer more shore excursions for children 10 and under.
Western ports offer shore excursions that are more adventurous and thus suitable for older kids and/or very active families.

Do you dream of more days to enjoy the ship? If so, the Eastern gives you more at-sea days. At-sea days are delightfully relaxing with plenty of activities for families.

Take a look at the shore excursions (and prices) for all ports and figure out what best fits into your budget as well.
