Hi! My family and I are planning to go to Hollywood studio August 19. I’m expecting and would like to do my gender reveal at the park. Any ideas ?? We would like Star Wars :)

Eliany, bright suns traveler from the planDisney Black Spire Outpost on planet Batuu. We love having off-worlders share their most special occasions with us. Congratulations on the future addition to the family. I wonder if your youngling will be as strong with the force as Master Yoda.

Here are some suggestions for a gender reveal at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

    1. Curate your own gender reveal with a Capture Your Moment: Disney's Hollywood Studios session. You will be able to bring props and use the expertise of Disney PhotoPass photographers.

    2. Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers Option 1 (just the parents): This is an experience where you make your own lightsaber which in time could be passed down to your child once they are ready to begin their youngling training. The experience is by reservation only. The reveal will happen during the making of the lightsaber and not during public display for family and friends, however, you may record the experience. If want it to be a surprise to you as well then I would bring a sealed envelope with the color of the kyber crystal (blue or red) you want. When you sign in for the experience please let the "Gatherer" (cast member) know your intention is to record a gender reveal and that you do not want to select, insert, or see the kyber crystal until it is ignited. In fact maybe during that moment, you blindfold yourself like Luke Skywalker or Kanan Jarrus until the chamber is sealed. Only one of you may build the lightsaber while the other watches. When the time to ignite your blade arrives, with a little bit of the Force maybe the Gatherer will allow you both to activate your lightsaber illuminating either a blue or red blade.

    3. Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsaber Option 2 (public display): You build two lightsabers knowing the kyber colors inside each lightsaber. If you both want the same color then chose that otherwise, chose one red and one blue then record a short lightsaber battle away from the workshop with the winner revealing the correct gender color. When you are done find a Disney PhotoPass Service photographer and let them capture the moment.

    4. Oga's Cantina: With or without your family and friends, bring your sealed envelope to Oga's and tell the server you would like to do a gender reveal with drinks. Give them the envelope and order a non-alcoholic round of Blurrgfire for females or Blue Bantha for males. Have someone record it and make a toast to yourselves and the youngling.

    4. Rey: If you can catch her and she is not on a mission. You may be able to ask Rey and her handler if they would be willing to reveal the gender of your youngling. She moves around and is not at a set location. She wants to "ignite the spark" for the Resistance so it may be better for you to know the gender first.

5: Star Wars Launch Bay: Inside you will find photo opportunities with BB-8, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader. They may also be able to help you. Ask a Cast Member for some assistance.

Eilany, I hope the data in this communication give you some ideas. Please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions.

May the Force be with you,

    Master Jedi Jason
