My Family is planning our first visit to Walt Disney World in about five years, and were wondering what would be the best time to go, where there aren't too many rides closed, and where we can see the most in one week?

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I think it's fantastic you're already planning your Walt Disney World vacation. Mickey loves meeting new Pals. I always say that the best time to go to Walt Disney World is, well, any time you can go!

What I love about your question, Andrew, is that it's making me stop and think and imagine all the magic that Walt Disney World will share with us in 5 years. My own very first visit to Magic Kingdom Park was just a few years after it opened, and I have really enjoyed all the changes over all these years. If only I could put on my Sorcerer's Mickey Hat and predict the most magical vacation 5 years from now! My favorite attraction has always been Space Mountain. Will we be hanging out at a real Starport Seven-Five waiting for one of its flights departing daily?

My best suggestion, Andrew, is to think ahead to what your vacationing will be like 5 years from now. Will you be needing to follow school schedules? If so, you'll likely be planning around school breaks and summer vacations. Will you have the flexibility to visit and vacation any time of year? If so, you might consider a September stay or a January stay. It sounds like you're planning for a week, and that's great! You can take in a lot of magic in a week.

Based on current options, you can book your Walt Disney World Resort reservations 499 days in advance. I think that gives you a good 3 years plus to plan. I'd say start by checking out the free vacation planning videos. I also highly recommend following Disney Parks Blog to hear about all the new and exciting happenings all around Walt Disney World. There are new lands and attractions and more on the way.

Andrew, I hope you'll visit us again with questions as you plan your Walt Disney World vacation.

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
