My family and I are planning our first trip to DW at the end of 2010. My kids will be 3 and 5y/o. My question is where would be the best place to stay on a budget, how many parks should we go to etc?

Hi Mindy!  You will have so much fun planning for your big trip the end of 2010 and its never too soon to start getting your ideas in place.

I always recommend guests staying on property so they can enjoy all the Disney amenities such as the complementary bus transportation through-out and also the Magical Express service from the airport.  There is no need to have a car during your visit to Walt Disney World!

My choice value resort is Pop Century and my choice moderate resort is Port Orleans. Be sure and check the Disney specials as they happen to see if you can participate to reduce the cost of your stay.  This year they have had specials such as Free Dining, Adults stay for Kids prices, and booking a number of days to get extra free.  We do not know what specials Disney will have for 2010 but keep checking the website to see if you can participate.

You will find wonderful things to do in each of the four theme parks for your children's ages so I would recommend you spend at least a half day in all of them.  Obviously the Magic Kingdom will be a big draw for the family and you can visit and see the Animal Kingdom park in one day.  EPCOT and the Hollywood Studios both have attractions that are fun and I encourage families to visit to see what is there.  You can get a nice listing of attractions that Disney feels is appropriate for your children's ages by clicking HERE and on the left side click on RECOMMENDED AGES and then check on the correct age group.  A list of attractions for all the parks will be shown and this might give you a good idea of how to plan for the parks.
