My family is planning a Disney vacation in October. Do the parks get busy over Columbus day weekend? How is the weather in October?

Hi Sean! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. With school officially back in session and significantly fewer family vacations, October is absolutely a wonderful time to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort. This year we're planning a short magical trip near the end of October to experience the one and only Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party which is held on select nights from September to October.

Another exciting feature for October is Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival September 19 - November 10, 2014...described the most delicious annual event at Walt Disney World Resort.

You'll find the temperature averaging around the mid 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, cooling down with lows in the high 60s in the evenings...during this year's Columbus Day weekend. You'll be comfortable in shorts but generally pack a light jacket for my kids just in case the temperature dips while we're out. For evenings we typically choose long pants and a light jacket. October significantly drier with much less chance of rain showers! I love not worrying about rain gear.

Wishing you a magical and memorable Disney Vacation!
