My family are very oudoorsy people. In our favorite places (after Disney) we do a lot of hiking in CA,CO,OR,WA,MT. From our hiking experiences and our trips to Disney World and Land, we have found that we get a lot of bilsters. Is there any special trick?

    Jessica:

How did you know I suffer from flat feet and found myself in the World Showcase two years ago searching desperately for bandaids and socks?!

Besides renting an ECV, I don't know if there is anything foolproof for blisters, but from experience you know that they can ruin a great trip, so I always recommend friends leave sandals, Crocs, and flip-flops home when they come to WDW and pack plenty of thick socks along with an extra pair of tennis shoes.

Specifically, I find that wearing the same shoes can rub on the same places day after day, so I switch out them out. A little planning ahead can also save a world of hurt...so make sure that when you buy shoes, that there's plenty of wiggle room in the "toe box". (An article I read just this weekend recommended a full thumbs length at the end!) When it comes to socks, consider buying ones that lock away moisture from the feet or are padded, especially in the heel area. Simply wearing two pairs of socks can make a big difference, too.

Lastly, a good supply of bandages should be brought with you in the park so you don't spend precious footsteps looking for a store that sells them. And if you still get a blister, don't pop it or rub off the skin. That precious layer can hold off an infection!

    Wishing you a magical--and pain-free--vacation!

p.s. The Addidas store in Germany at Epcot sells excellent sport socks if you find yourself in a pinch...literally!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
