Hi Sheena and welcome to planDisney!
I just love being a Florida resident and a
Walt Disney World Passholder! There are so many perks to living in the Sunshine State and being able to visit the Disney theme parks as often as possible is just one of them. We are always down for making new memories while playing in the parks.
As you know, new
annual pass sales will open on April 20th. Per the
Disney Parks Blog announcement, pass sales will be limited and have the potential to sell out. When you purchase a new pass, you have a year to activate them, so the start date doesn't begin until the first time you tap into a theme park. I highly suggest purchasing a pass for your son now and then hold on to activate it until he turns 3. That way, you are guaranteed to have one for him if the pass sales are suspended again. A plus for doing this is also that you will lock in the current pricing vs taking the chance on waiting to purchase one for him and the price increases. I have friends who have been in a similar situation where three out of four of their family members have passes and they were unable to purchase a pass for the fourth person because pass sales were not available, so I can't tell you for certain if you will be able to purchase a pass for your son if you wait and they become unavailable again.
When you purchase your passes on Thursday, consider adding the PhotoPass Downloads Option to one of them. That will get you an entire year of unlimited PhotoPass pictures that you take around the parks and I'm sure you'll want to keep those memories having little ones in your family. I love having the PhotoPass photographers take our family vacation photos so all of us can be together in them without anyone being behind the camera.
Please stop back by and visit if you have any additional vacation planning questions.
Have a magical day!
Leslie
