we have a family of 5, one child will be staying with grandparents, if we get the meal plan, do the grandparents have to be there when we use the plan for our child, or will she have her own card.

    Hello Holly,

You must be thrilled to have your entire family - grandparents and all - going on a trip to Disney World!

If your family is booked under the same reservation, you'll have no problems. Grandma and Grandpa can steal away some alone time one night for dinner!

If your family is booked under two different reservations, things will get a bit tricky. But there are simple fixes!

Ask one of the Grandparents for one of their Keys to the World. When you arrive on property, each room is given a set of Keys to the World. In essence it's your room key, your Disney Dining Plan, your charging privileges, and park tickets (if applicable) all rolled into one card. When you pay for your family's meal, just mention to the Cast Member that one child's meal will be charged to another room key.

Or if you would rather not swap cards, you can simply charge your child's meal to your room and then "owe" that meal to the Grandparents room the next time you all eat as a big group. But that sometimes gets confusing. And while you're on vacation, who wants to do all that memorization?

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

My family loves our Main Street in Ohio. But there's simply no comparison to Main Street U.S.A.! We don't get to Disney quite as often as I'd like, but that just means finding new ways to sprinkle Pixie Dust on our adventures! Learn More About Monina
