I want to take my family to 'Ohana for a character meal but one of them is allergic to pineapple. With so much there based on pineapple, can they accommodate his allergy needs?

Hey there, David! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. There’s nothing like planning a trip to Walt Disney World, especially when it includes a visit to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

While I’ve not had the opportunity to have a meal at ‘Ohana (but it’s on my list), I can tell you that Disney is very cognizant of food allergies. In fact, during one of our trips to Walt Disney World, we had a member in our party who was allergic to strawberries (which are commonly used to cook with) and let me tell you, one of the chefs came out to conduct a thorough walkthrough with this individual to cater directly to her needs.

You should know that Disney takes steps to prevent cross-contact, but they do not have separate allergy-friendly kitchens and are unable to guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens. You’ll want to keep this in mind depending on this individual's severity.

While you can also make note of this on your online reservation, as you check into ‘Ohana for your reservation, be sure to let one of the Cast Members know and they will work their magic.

If you have any other questions please let us know. Have a magical day and tell Mickey and Minnie I said hello!
