Hello Shannon and welcome aboard planDisney! We are thrilled that you sailed our way with your question.
I’m excited to hear about your upcoming plans. My family has sailed a few different itineraries with Disney Cruise Line, but we always get very excited to sail from Florida to the Caribbean or the Bahamas with Mickey Mouse. It most always means that we are heading to our favorite place…
Castaway Cay!
While at Castaway Cay, I recommend snorkeling on the Family Beach and biking around the island. You don’t have to rent a bicycle in advance, just stroll up to the bike area if you are feeling in the mood for a bicycle ride. I especially love to follow my bike ride with my favorite snack of soft-serve ice cream sandwiched between a big cookie from the lunchtime island buffet. Yum!
While Disney Cruise Line does recommend that guests travel with passports, U.S. citizens can visit the Bahamas and Caribbean on a round trip cruise out of Florida with the following
approved travel documentation. If you do not have an original valid U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, or Trusted Traveler card, you may use an original or copy of a state-issued birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID. It’s important to note that hospital birth certificates are not accepted. Guests over the age of 15 must travel with a government approved photo ID. If you have teenagers without the appropriate photo ID, you can check with your post office or DMV to get the proper identification for your cruise. Please carefully read over the
approved travel documentation page of the Disney Cruise Line website as you are responsible for presenting the proper documentation when you check in and board your cruise ship.
With the proper documentation, you’ll be able to check in online 30 days prior to your sail date and you’ll be smooth sailing ahead! It’s also important that you bring these items with you when you arrive at the port. Keep them with you in your carry-on luggage at all times. Don’t stick them in the luggage that you hand to the baggage porters. You also might want to keep a swimsuit and sunscreen in your carry-on bag. You can head to the pools shortly after boarding for a great way to start your vacation off with a splash!
Shannon, I hope you have an incredible voyage with the Disney Cruise Line. Please cruise over to planDisney again if you have more questions. My pals and I would love to help.
Bon Voyage,
Adrianna
