Does my family need advanced reservations to participate in the free portion of shark reef where you can swim directly across the reef? If not, is there a better time of day to plan this activity?

    Hi Samantha!

My son and I just love the Water Parks of Walt Disney World, especially Typhoon Lagoon!  The snorkeling on the Shark Reef is an amazing experience and we make sure that we do it everytime we go to Typhoon Lagoon.  The snorkeling portion across the reef is free and the best time of day to do this is in the morning (the earlier the better) before this attraction gets crowded.  I will warn you that the salt water in this attraction is very cold and while it is very refreshing on a hot day, it feels extra cold on a cool day!  This may also be another reason why this attraction is less crowded first thing in the morning. Also keep in mind that if the Shark Reef is not busy, you can get in line and do it again!

I hope that you have a magical time exploring the wonders of the Shark Reef in Typhoon Lagoon on your next trip to Walt DIsney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
