My family (4), & mysis's family, (4), are meeting for a Christmas 2010 Walt Disney World Vacation - none of us have been there - Where on earth do we begin???

    Hi Jennifer,

I just returned from a Christmas trip to Disney and am still feeling the magic!  I, like you, love to plan everything super early.  When it comes to celebrating Christmas at Walt Disney World, this is a fantastic strategy, given that the parks and resorts are in the midst of their peak season during the holidays.  It's great that you are ready to start planning.

I would start by choosing a resort and book your stay as soon as possible to ensure that you have the view and location your families most want.  You honestly can't go wrong, as all of Disney's properties are magnificent during the holidays, decked out in a sea of lights, trees and decorations.  Next, I would start planning out where you would like to dine while on vacation, and get ready to book your advanced dining reservations 180 days to the minute before your trip.  As you can guess, tables fill up quickly as the parks and resorts approach capacity.  I would include a mix of character dining (Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, etc.) special experiences (Whispering Canyons Cafe, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, etc.) and perhaps even a signature dining experience for your Christmas dinner (Jiko, Artist Point and California Grille are all fantastic choices).

Obviously, you should secure airline tickets for your travel dates, and be sure to update your reservation with your flight information so that you can make use of Disney's Magical Express.  Finally, as your trip approaches, I would start working out a rough itinerary of which attractions your group most wants to visit, whether you plan to tour the parks as a large group or break up part of the time, and any special experiences you'd like to include (Cirque du Soleil, dinner shows, etc.)

Have a wonderful time planning your Christmas Disney trip!
