Our family of 4 - Mom, Dad, 16 year old daughter and 10 year old son are heading to Disney around March break. Wondering what resort is recommended with a slightly more mature theme (not too many really young kids) to keep everyone happy??

    Hi there, Michele!

Every hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort is themed to the hilt, but you hit upon a great point: some are more geared towards children. I'm thinking in particular of the Value-class Resorts: the All-Stars and the Pop Century.

While the Moderate class and the Deluxe Resorts offer rich theming, the ambience is much less over-the-top; there are, for example, no giant Mister Potato Head figures at the Moderates and Deluxe Resorts.

This is not to say that these two classes are geared just for adults. Rather you'll find,a more mature level of Disney presence.

The Moderates strike a wonderful balance. Of the Moderate Resorts, my favorite is the Port Orleans French Quarter. Small and charming, every building is convenient and the location of the Resort itself lends itself to easy access to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Downtown Disney - the areas that, it might be argued, skew slightly older than the Magic Kingdom. Moderates do tend to make their pool areas extra child-friendly, with playgrounds and slightly scaled-down slides.

And I can't begin to choose one of the Deluxe Resorts, which are likely the most "grown-up" of the Resort family. It all depends on your taste. My personal favorite is the Polynesian; it is on the monorail line, features the killer volcano pool area complete with beach property, and covers sprawling, lush grounds.

If you'd like, drop me a line with a bit more information about your family's preferences, and I'll be glad to narrow down this list of incredible Resorts further based on your specifications.

    Have a marvelous time!

    See you later, celebrator,
