I love to hear that your family member wants to surprise and delight his family with Magic Key passes! That is so exciting! I'm sorry to hear he seems to be having trouble, but let's see if we can't walk you through the steps.
As I'm sure you are aware the Imagine Magic Key Pass is exclusively for Southern California residents in qualifying zip codes. If your family member was looking at the Disneyland website without being signed in, that may have been the issue.
I would relay to him that he should try signing in to the Disneyland website or creating an account if he does not already have one. If he already has an account, he will want to make sure he has a current address in his profile that qualifies. Then he will hover over the Magic Key tab and select "
Purchase Magic Key Passes". Hopefully, this will now give the Imagine Key option. If not, there may be a drop-down for him to select just above where the Dream Key information is listed. He will also be able to take advantage of the California Resident's offer to make a down payment and then monthly payments instead of paying for the passes in full.
If for any reason he is still having trouble seeing the Imagine Magic Key Pass in the available pass types, I recommend calling to speak to a Cast Member with
Magic Key Holder services.
Once he has purchased the Magic Key passes, he will then need to make sure they are linked to his account and he will need to make
theme park reservations for the dates he wishes to visit the parks.
