My family is making their first trip to WDW this Sept. 6 adults & 2 Kids (5 & 10). Staying at Port of Orl Riverside. We will be taking advantage of the Stars & Stripes tickets. How long will it take to get to Shades of Green and quickest route

    Ronda:

The quickest route between Port Orleans: Riverside and Shades of Green is by car, taking a right onto Bonnet Creek Parkway out of the resort, then a left on Vista Blvd that runs by Fort Wilderness. You'll then take a slight right onto North World Drive. You'll go to the next red light (Seven Seas) and take a left. At the dead-end (which is a 3-Way with a Yield, I believe) take a right onto Magnolia Palm. You'll see the entrance to Shades of Green on your left. You'll be stopped at the guard shack, but show your military i.d. and let the guard know your intentions and you'll be allowed to drive up to the resort. The drive will take about 15 minutes.

If you do not have a car, the journey is a bit trickier. You've got lots of options, but I'd recommend taking a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the monorail to the Ticket & Transportation Center to catch one of the Shades of Green buses that goes back and forth on the hour and half-hour to the resort. They are very punctual. It is possible to walk from the Ticket & Transportation Center to SOG but you're looking at a 15-minute walk, and I only recommend the journey via the Polynesian Resort, taking the sidewalk on the Luau Cove-side of the resort, following the signs.

If all this running around is just to get your Stars & Stripes tickets, I suggest visiting your local MWR office and purchasing them in advance.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
