Greetings, Maria. From one Magic Key holder to another, welcome to planDisney! I'm actually getting ready to upgrade my daughter's
Magic Key pass type – you can count on me to provide some guidance.
Maria, I called the
Magic Key Holders line and confirmed with a Cast Member: If someone in your family has a Magic Key pass that is already active, you would be able to upgrade to a higher pass type without them present. You'll likely need to verify some information for each passholder, such as name, date of birth, and address.
Here are a few things to know before upgrading:
- You can only upgrade to a higher pass type that is currently available for sale.
- The expiration date of your Magic Key will stay the same.
- The cost to upgrade is the difference between the current and new pass types, and that amount must be paid in full at the time of the upgrade. If you currently have a monthly payment plan in place, the amount you’re charged each month would remain the same since you're paying the upgrade cost separately.
- The upgrade cost isn’t prorated based on when your Magic Key expires.
When you're ready, head to the Disneyland Resort and visit a ticket booth at the Esplanade (between the two theme park entrances) to upgrade. A Cast Member will help you through the process in person.
Make sure to review the benefits of your upgraded pass type, as well as the
park reservation availability calendar. You should also check the Magic Key portal on the
Disneyland website or
mobile app for all the latest perks and special events.
We're approaching the
holiday season – my favorite time of year at the Disneyland Resort! I can already picture the towering tree, wreaths and garland, and festive entertainment. There's so much to look forward to, and you'll have a chance to experience it all thanks to your Magic Key pass.
Maria, I hope upgrading your family's Magic Key passes goes smoothly for you, and that each visit is sprinkled with pixie dust. If you have any other questions, please let us know. We love to help here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Kriss
