Hi! Our family loves to walk and would like to spend some time exploring some quieter parts of WDW. We're thinking of walking from WL around FW, or from Downtown Disney around OKW or POR/POFQ. What do you think? Is there anywhere else we should consider?

Sounds like a truly lovely way to spend some Disney time, Stephen.  And coming up with a spot you missed wasn't easy.  The only other suggestion I might offer is to explore the area between the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom--there's a walking path that leads past the Grand Floridian, though that particular area isn't necessarily "off the beaten path" like some of the others areas you mentioned.  So, too, do the majority of moderate resorts and the deluxes each offer something unique to explore, though you covered the best spots, in my opinion.

My family especially appreciated the down time we spent wandering the paths at Fort Wilderness.  The grounds really lend to the feeling of being secluded in a remote location, in spite of the fact that the Magic Kingdom is a hop, skip and jump away.  While you're exploring you might consider grabbing an old-fashioned orange soda from one of the shops there, and drinking it in a rocking chair on the porch, or maybe treating the kids to a pony ride at Tri-Circle-D Ranch.  Enjoy your trip!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
