Family loves the beach - staying @ WL Villas - how is the beach? Don't think you can swim but any beach close-by to swim at? Don't have waterpark option. Does Ft. Wilderness campground have a beach and if so, is it similar or can you swim there?

    Hi Helene!

Thank you for sending your question to the Moms Panel!

Unfortunately, you can not swim in any of the lakes at Walt Disney World.  While there are beaches at some of the resorts, such as the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, there are signs clearly stating that swimming is not allowed.  Disney Cast Members will ask you to get out of the water if you try to go in.  Also, there can be exotic animals in the lakes such as snakes and alligators; while I've only seen one alligator during the past several years, I have seen lot of snakes in the water!

If you really want to go swimming, you can drive to either coast.  I recommend driving to Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral National Seashore on the Atlantic Ocean.  It's about an hour east of Walt Disney World and very easy to get there if you have a car!

Enjoy planning your magical vacation and write back if you have any more questions!
