My family love Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review. I was wondering how Mickey's Backyard BBQ compares? We are always looking for new and exciting things to try!

Jennifer, I have enjoyed both of these great entertainment options at Walt Disney World.  Our family is also a big fan of the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue and it just never gets old to us.

Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is located in Fort Wilderness as well but a different type of experience. The buffet food offered is similar with great barbecue, beans, corn, cornbread etc. and it would be hard to leave hungry. Mickey bars are available for dessert if you are still hungry and there is a bar offering wine and beer for the adults.

The experience is fun as there is a live band that plays throughout the evening. A western cowboy shows off his skills at roping and gets a few of the children involved during his performance. Of course the highlight is when the characters come out to join the children and the dancing begins. This is not an autograph or photo opportunity experience but you can grab your camera and try to get that perfect shot of the kids with Mickey and Minnie doing their best dancing.  If you wish a quieter time there will be two characters situated off to each side of the dance floor where the younger ones can visit and do a little dancing without being lost in the big crowd.

This dining opportunity is an outside venue although most is covered. During cold times it is not offered and it can be quite warm during the hottest months. You might wish to take that into consideration but it is a fun experience to at least try once.
