We are a family of 6, 4 kids under 10. I am wondering what would be the best time to make dinner reservation? I want us to be able to experience the parks but I also want to have nights in downtown disney.

I also have a family of six.  We just returned yesterday from a two week stay.  While we were at WDW we followed a basic schedule that allowed us to spend our mornings in the parks followed by an early lunch.  After lunch we typically visited two or three more attractions before taking a short afternoon break to allow everyone a chance to refresh and recharge.  Our dinner reservations were all scheduled fairly early (around the 5 o'clock hour).  We found that those early dinners allowed us plenty of time to still enjoy evening entertainment without sacrificing on sleep (which as you know is very important with little ones!).  You might consider trying out a similar schedule for your upcoming trip!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
