My family of 4 (our kids are 16 and 13) will be staying at POR July 2-9th. I am concerned over some negative reviews that I have read, will the rooms be large enough with older kids? Do you have any other resort suggestions??

    Gary:

Our family stayed at Port Orleans: Riverside a few years ago and loved it--plus we had 5 in the room!

All Moderates have the same 315 square feet of space, and our room was typical of what you would find at most hotel chains.  Any other Moderate resort would not be a consideration if you're simply looking for alternatives due to space. My only complaint about the Moderates are the "closets" that are in the sink area of the bathroom....not convenient.

If you want to go up on square footage, you're going to have to go up on price....if that's the case, you may want to consider the family suites at All-Star Music, as they have about 520 square feet and two bathrooms (good if your teenagers are girls....), but you'll have to compromise with only one bed.  A sleeper sofa and an ottoman that makes into a roll-away cot are your other sleeping arrangements.  Check out the pictures of the rooms at Disney on www.allears.net.  They can help you feel like you're making an educated decision.

My last thought: Before you make the switch to the family suite, a Fort Wilderness cabin, or a Deluxe resort, ask yourself how much time you'll actually be spending in your hotel room besides sleeping and showering.  The money you save could buy the dining plan for the week for two adults or park tickets for your kids....

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
