My family of 4 (kids 4 & 8) are planning 1st Disney trip 3/24-3/20. I'm overwhelmed with the ADRs and would like recommendation on how many table services should be pre-planned. I have 2 character dining reservations already, shoud I still make meal

    Hi, Stacey!

Welcome to Walt Disney World!  I am excited for you and your family to see all the magic that Mickey Mouse can offer!

My question to you is "Do you have the base Disney Dining Plan?"  If "Yes" then you will want to have one Table Service meal planned for each night of your stay.  So since you are staying 6 nights, have 6 (1 credit each)  ADR's planned to get the most value from your dining plan.

If you do NOT have the dining plan, for a 6 night vacation, I would probably plan 4 - 5 table service meals.   Believe me, there are plenty of Quick Service locations, but after a few days, you will find it to be a nice break to relax at a meal and be served!  It also gives your little Mouseketeers some nice "down-time" from all the activity.

You do not have to book all character/buffets, there are so many great choices that your whole family will enjoy.  I do not know where you are staying, but see what restaurants are right at your resort, or plan to visit one of the great resorts for a meal. Try Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian.   If heading to Downtown Disney, try Rainforest Cafe.  In Hollywood Studios, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater is always a hit with my kids.

For Quick Service, try Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbor House (Magic Kingdom) or Pizza Planet (Hollywood Studios.)  One of my very favorite Quick Service Locations is Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney;  Simply delicious!

Don't overbook, but plan to have some nice meals where you can relax and have a pleasant breakfast/lunch/dinner.  Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
