Oh dear Helen! I'm sorry to hear your last trip was missing some of the magic but hopefully this next trip will be better!
When it comes to dining I always suggest families to secure some sort of table service dining reservation each day. This is a great way to slow down and rest and enjoy a meal together. If you only do quick service dining during a vacation then your pace seems to be nothing but quick each day.
Select a couple of character experiences such as Chef Mickey, Cape May, or Tusker House. You can do several if your budget allows but not all meals need to be with characters. Please understand that all Disney dining is for families and all locations are prepared for children of all ages. The exception is Victoria and Alberts which does have a minimum age.
You might enjoy trying something different such as Mickey's Backyard Barbecue which is very informal and a fun and wild time for the kids. They can dance the night away with characters while you video or watch and relax. This is located in the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Other great opportunities at this location are Trails End buffet restaurant and Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong.
You might enjoy trying some of the new spots in EPCOT such as Via Napoli in Italy. Your kids will love the pizza maybe as much as you will! Check out the Land food court for great dining options if you choose to not get a reservation in this park. Read the descriptions about each location at the website and decide what sounds good for you. Perhaps buffet meals are easier and you will have many options to choose from. Click

Hopefully this trip will be smoother and you will go home with many magical memories!
