Hi Chelsea! The
Fort Wilderness Campground Resort at Walt Disney World is one of the premiere campgrounds across the country. The facilities are among the best for both RV's and campers.
October is definitely a fun month to come for a visit. Halloween decorations will start to go up at the beginning of the month and although most campers do not stay the entire time they will decorate for the duration of their stay. That means new things to see almost every day. Obviously the closer you get to the actual holiday will bring the more sophisticated decor on the sites but it is still fun to participate and travel around to see it all.
Since you will be camping your outdoor comfort is first and foremost. Early October weather can be still quite warm and humid or you can start to feel the break with cooler temperatures. Each site will have electrical outlets so you can plug in a fan to help cool you off or if you can find an electrical cooler you can bring that and keep your perishables safe. Obviously bring bug sprays, sun screens, air mattresses, and simple games for the kids. They are sure to make many new friends in the loop.
Keep cooking supplies to a minimum as if you forget something there is the
Settlement Trading Post and the
Meadow Trading Post where you can pick up simple things and basic foods. Remember that Disney is a casual place so you don't need to bring lots of fancy clothes either. There are Comfort Stations close by for those hot showers and laundry needs.
Enjoy your Disney camping vacation!
