We are a family of 5, kids ages 10,8,2. Which resort would you recommend? We are staying in mid October and want something memorable but yet wont break the bank. Do you recommend one on the monorail because of the 2 yo? Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi Jon,

We also have a family of 5 with the same aged children.  I'm assuming that your 2 year old still naps during the day.  Ours does, and so whenever possible we like to spend a little extra money and stay at a resort that is in close proximity to at least one park.  It cuts down on travel time, and makes our vacation a little more relaxing.

Our favorite resort is Beach Club (or Yacht Club).  The pool area is FANTASTIC, so my older kids don't mind taking a break from the parks for the littlest one to nap.  They know they can hang out at Stormalong Bay with one of us for a couple of hours.  Also, it's conveniently located in between Epcot and Hollywood Studios.  The walk to Epcot is short, and although the walk to the Studios is nearly a mile, it's a great option at the end of the night when the lines for the boat launch is quite long.

Being close to Epcot is great, especially at dinner time.  I find that we spend many evenings at Epcot having dinner in the World Showcase, riding a few attractions, and ending the evening with Illuminations.

If Beach Club is out of your price range, another great option is Caribbean Beach.  You'll have to rely more on bus transportation, so nap time won't be quite as convenient; but there is a great new pool area for older kids and a splash zone play area for the little ones.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
