Rachel from TN Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Hello, my family of 5 (kids ages 6, 2 1/2, and 7 months) are planning a 1 day trip the end of May! Any advice and tips on MaxPass (FASTPASS), and how to see and meet Characters would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance, Rachel

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Rachel! I’m so glad you’re here! Your Disneyland Resort vacation will be here before you know it… and I can’t wait for your adventures to begin! As a fellow mom of three Mouseketeers, I’d love to share my favorite tips and tricks to help you have the most stress-free day possible.

For starters, you’re going to want to download the Disneyland app, which is a handy helper when it comes to finding your favorite Characters, checking wait times, making dining reservations, mobile ordering, and using Disney MaxPass! To find which Characters are currently available once you’re in the parks, click on the map at the top of the app. Then, click on “Characters” from the drop-down menu. Click on “Show List” in the upper right-hand corner for a helpful list of which Characters are available, and where you can find them. Keep checking throughout the day, since it changes often! Also, for a more intimate interaction with your family's favorite Characters, check out the five options for Character Dining.

If you haven’t already purchased tickets, keep in mind that your two youngest Mouseketeers won’t need tickets since they’re under the age of 3. This also means they won’t require MaxPass, since they won’t have tickets. But, they’ll still be allowed to take advantage of the perks of MaxPass along with the rest of your family, as long as they meet the height requirements of certain attractions. For any attractions with height restrictions, you may want to consider using Rider Switch so you and your spouse can take turns getting your thrills!

You can view a helpful list of attractions your whole family can experience together here. Some of my family’s favorites are: “it’s a small world”, Toy Story Midway Mania!, Disneyland Railroad, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.

If you don’t already have Disney MaxPass on your other three tickets, you can add it as soon as you enter either park using the Disneyland app. As soon as you pass through the turnstiles, you can start making your FASTPASS selections. I recommend linking your three tickets together so you can make selections at the same time. The neat thing about MaxPass is that you can make FASTPASS selections for one park while inside the other, which is especially helpful during a one-day visit, when your time is more limited. Keep watching your app so you know when you can make your next selection to ensure you get the most out of your Disney day!

Please bring any other questions back to us here at the Moms Panel… we’re all EARs!
