Hi there, My family and I are keen to try the Space 220 Restaurant/Lounge. Other than the obvious menu options we were wondering if there is any other advantages to booking the restaurant vs lounge - do both offer the same immersive experience?

Hello there Suzanne; welcome back to planDisney!

I love how EPCOT provides everyone with so many opportunities to head into space, whether it's after a slow-moving trek through time on Spaceship Earth, a high-speed space chase to save the galaxy or a dizzying interplanetary operation on Mission: SPACE that makes me rethink whether I want to travel to Mars again anytime soon. But despite the perils of space travel, one of the most challenging things to achieve can be finding a reservation to dine well above the clouds at the ever-popular Space 220 Restaurant and Lounge and if the stars have helped guide you way to one, I would recommend hanging onto whatever you manage to get!

I had the opportunity to check out the Space 220 Restaurant for dinner and recently wrote about our experience in snagging one of those rare open reservations. Since you're already aware of the differences in your menu options, I can tell you that the immersive check-in and boarding experience as you launch up into the skies 220 miles above Florida is the same. You'll be able to have that "wow" moment as the corridors suddenly open up to reveal a view that really makes you feel like you've made onto the Centauri Space Station - which must have an impeccable gravity simulator to be safely serving so many kinds of beverages.

If you ask a Cast Member they may tell you that wherever you sit, your experience will still feel out of this world; I however think it's important to note that there can be a vast difference in the overall viewing experience that varies depending on where you are seated within the restaurant. In fact, from our most recent visit we were assigned to a table where I was turned away from the majority of the view and had to turn around to witness any fun happenings through the large windows. I actually thought that the folks seated further back in the Space 220 Lounge area would've had a better view of the entire area compared to the ones who were immediately adjacent to the window, so truly it may be something to keep in mind before you blast off!

One of my personal Princely Picks, Tips and Tricks is to keep an eye out for some quirky space signage, especially if you need to head to the space-toilet during your visit! Be sure to come back here for any more questions pertaining to your visit in October, especially as Magic Kingdom Park transforms for the spooky season - and who knows what new frightful faces you just might encounter by then?

Wherever you end up sitting, I hope your family's experience will be absolutely stellar!
