My family will be istaying n WDW May 16-13th. We have a babysitter Friday night. Do you have any suggestions for restaurants without reservations? Also any tips how to have a fun evening out without spending all our time on Disney transportation?

I would suggest one of 3 types of evenings.

First, consider taking Disney transportation to the Magic Kingdom and then walking over to the Contemporary Resort. You could begin with a cocktail or meal at The Wave. I caution that you may want to make a reservation for a table service meal. Next, take the monorail to the Polynesian Resort. Enjoy a cocktail at the Tambu Lounge or coffee from the Kona Island Cafe. Good meal choices include the Kona Cafe or 'Ohana.

Next, explore the torchlit grounds. Then follow the signs to Wedding Pavilion, Spa and Grand Floridian. This is one of my favorite walks on WDW property for the beautiful scenery and solitude. At the Grand Floridian, enjoy a cocktail while listening to the piano player or orchestra in the Grand Lobby. You'll then want to explore the grounds outside and take in the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the dock. End your night with a boat ride or monorail back to the Magic Kingdom or splurge on a taxi back to your resort.

Boardwalk area: Take a taxi to the Boardwalk Resort or transfer to a Boardwalk bus from the closest theme park. Dine at Spoodles or Flying Fish. Walk around the Boardwalk area to the Beach and Yacht Club resorts. Have a cocktail or a small bite to eat at Martha's Vineyard or Crew's Cup Lounge. The Captain's Grille or Yachtsman Steakhouse may have availability. Continue your pleasant walk over to the Dolphin and Swan resorts where even more restaurant choices await you.

Downtown Disney: Take a bus to Downtown Disney. Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich are my favorite counter service meals. There are lots of restaurants but on a Friday night, I would recommend a reservation. It's fun to shop and stroll in this area for an adults only night!

Consider taking a taxi at the end of the night back to your resort. This will end your evening on a relaxing note. See mearstransportation.com to estimate your cost.
