My family is interested in creating a lightsaber. We wanted to help my son build a lightsaber. Are both my husband and I able to enter to help him?

Bright suns, Vanessa, and welcome to planDisney! I sense the Force is strong with you and your upcoming journey to a galaxy far, far away, so let’s start planning!

I’m so excited to see that Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers at the Walt Disney World Resort is once again accepting reservations! I checked the rules for Savi’s Workshop, and unfortunately, they state that the experience is limited to the builder and one Guest. At least one person in the party must be age 14 or older, and the Guest of the builder may not build a lightsaber when accompanying the builder. Keep in mind that the experience has been adjusted slightly in order to accommodate physical distancing between parties, so space is limited, and reservations are highly recommended.

I can’t wait for you to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort! My family loves exploring Batuu – you truly get to live out your own Star Wars story! In fact, building a lightsaber is one of my all-time favorite Disney experiences! My son saved his birthday money and built a legendary lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop last year. What an amazing day that was! I’d recommend setting aside between 20-30 minutes for your reservation at Savi’s Workshop.

So, here’s how it works: The process begins when you meet with one of Savi’s Gatherers outside of the Workshop, no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your reservation time. Afterward, you’ll choose between one of four hilt themes, including Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense. Then, it’s time to select the heart of your lightsaber, known as the kyber crystal, and assemble the hilt. The Gatherers will then connect the hilt to the lightsaber blade, and then it’s time to activate! It’s such a magical experience as you become one with the Force!

While visiting Batuu, I recommend heading to the Milk Stand to sample some refreshing Blue or Green Milk. You can even mix the two flavors together for a special treat! My family also enjoys visiting Batuu’s local watering hole, Oga’s Cantina at the Walt Disney World Resort. It’s just a few steps away from Savi’s Workshop. My family loves sipping on our favorite exotic concoctions while listening to DJ R-3X mix up some beats!

I hope you and your family experience the galactic adventure of a lifetime, Vanessa! May the Force be with you!
