My family and I are interested in see how the camp sites are decorated at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds on Christmas night. I notice there is a Carriage Ride at Fort Wilderness and also a Sleigh Ride. Do either of these take you through the campsites?

Hi there, Tim. Welcome to planDisney.

Your question made me smile, Tim, because the holiday season at Walt Disney World is my absolute favorite. In fact, my family and I stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground every year during the week of Christmas and New Year. The whole campground pretty much goes all out with holiday decorations and it is so festive and fun. Last year, my family and I won the golf cart decorating contest and I can tell you there was some steep competition. We also always decorate our campsite which is a highlight of our trip each year. Let me tell you, some of the campsites really go all out.

A really fun way to enjoy the Christmas decorations through Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is with a holiday sleigh ride. The ride is about 25 minutes long and I think you'll be excited to know that it does take you through the campsite loops to enjoy the holiday decor. Now, the routes can vary and you certainly won't see it all but you'll be memorized by the sampling that you'll get to see during your ride. I've done a holiday sleigh ride in the past and I think the best time to do it is after it is pretty dark. The holiday lights really seem to come alive at that time so I think anytime after 6:00 p.m. is a great time to reserve.

I hope you enjoy the holiday season at Walt Disney World, Tim. It truly is a magical time of year. If you have any other questions about your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Happy holidays!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
