Our family (including a 5 and 7 year old) will be cruising on our fist Disney Cruise to Cozumel for spring break. What excursions are Recommended?

    Ahoy Kristin!

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! There’s nothing quite like a Disney Cruise Line vacation, and I’m so excited for your family’s first voyage this spring. My family is also sailing to Cozumel, Mexico on our spring break in April! I’m happy to help give you some advice in planning your Port Adventures.

As a first time cruiser you can reserve Port Adventures 75 days in advance of your trip, so very soon! Be sure your vacation is paid in full prior to this date for smooth sailing. At midnight EST the Disney Cruise Line website and Disney Cruise Line Navigator app will allow you to add plans to your itinerary once logged into your reservation.

You can research the best Cozumel Port Adventures for your family by navigating to Destinations > Port Adventures > Caribbean, and then filter the list by Port of Call. The list of Port Adventures shows the age range within the summary, which is a helpful place to begin.

If your children are comfortable swimming in the ocean with a flotation device, we loved the Fury Catamaran Sail Snorkel and Beach Party (CZ12) when my son was 6 years old. The catamaran sail was beautiful, snorkeling was safe and stunning, and a fun beach break allowed us to relax. The crew teaching my son the “Cha Cha Slide” dance moves onboard is a core memory we’ll never forget!

Other Cozumel Port Adventures without ocean water snorkeling that may suit your family include:

Be sure to expand the details on an individual Port Adventure page to see the time frame, activity level, and other logistics details to help manage expectations and finalize your favorites. I suggest having your top choices written down so you can book them when available and having a back-up choice in case one is sold out.

Please don’t get discouraged if your top choice isn’t available, Kristin – plans often shift prior to sailing and you can always inquire once onboard (in person with guest services or within the Navigator app) for availability. You should reserve something your family would be happy with, and then stay flexible for any new openings as your cruise approaches.

Please come back with any additional questions as you countdown to your special cruise!

Wishing you a practically perfect sailing,
    Amy
