My family- husband, and 4 yr old son, are going to disney for the first time. We are thinking about staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins because of the living room and kitchenette. Any advice about the place and if it is a good choice for our family.

Beyond the extra space to spread out and the kitchen, there are plenty of reasons to stay at the Fort Wilderness cabins, Nicole.  My family thoroughly enjoyed calling Fort Wilderness "home" during our stay there a couple of years ago.  It offers close proximity to the Magic Kingdom all while lending to the feel of seclusion and peace within the hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World.  My advice to you would be:

    a) Do not pass go without renting a golf cart.  You'd be amazed at how huge of a place Fort Wilderness is. Using a golf cart to get from point A to point B will make the process significantly more fun and efficient.

    b) Use a grocery delivery service to stock your fridge.  Ordering bottled water, milk, cereal and a few bananas will make a huge difference.  We thoroughly appreciated the ability to enjoy a "normal" breakfast each morning before heading out for the day.

I don't think you'll regret your decision to stay at Fort Wilderness, Nicole.  Happy "camping"!
