I have a family of 7 me n my husband n our 5 children ranging from 3-17 our budget is $5,000 n we plan to bring my mother.my question is if it's possible with that budget n is it cheaper to stay at a relatives in Florida or to stat at a resort.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for your great question! We are a frugal New Jersey family who always visits The Happiest Place on Earth while on a budget. We also have family in Florida, so staying with relatives is one option we have available to us. While there is no way that I can figure out the amount it would total for you to stay with relatives, it's very easy to figure out how much it would cost to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort. Here are a few things to keep in mind when checking the Walt Disney World website:
    • Look for family suites in the Value Resort options. I call Disney's Value Resorts "the diamonds in the rough." They are affordable yet accommodating and beautiful. I appreciate that they know some families are on a budget, but want to have to full Walt Disney World experience. The All-Star Music Resort and the Art of Animation Resort both have family suites.
    • Look for current vacation packages. If you're planning to visit during spring of 2014, there is a great Resort deal going on. You can get up to 30% off your hotel stay at select resorts! Use that deal to not only search the Value Resorts, but the Deluxe Villas. With that discount, you may be able to get a great deal on a multi-room villa.

Keep in mind the the extra budget you'll need if you stay with relatives. You'll need money for parking, food and snacks, and gas to go back and forth from the parks.

Staying at Walt Disney World can be done at any budget, it's just all about taking a few minutes to crunch those numbers.

I hope this answered your question, Elizabeth. If you have any more questions about budget, special plans for your Disney vacation or anything else you may think of, feel free to ask us at any time.

    Have a fantastical Disney day!
