Standard rooms at the
Grand Floridian have a capacity of five adults. When I search for rooms with your family's specifications -- two adults and four little ones -- the system will allow me to book a standard room with two queen beds and a day bed for your party's size.
There are a couple of options for standard rooms. You can choose resort view, water view (overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon) or theme park view (facing Magic Kingdom).
The Grand Floridian is super convenient to Magic Kingdom. As you head toward the theme park, it's just one monorail stop away. You can travel back and forth by water taxi. Or you can take the walking trail from Magic Kingdom directly back to the resort.
Returning to the resort for a midday nap would be a breeze.
If you decide you need more space for your young family in your resort room, I'd recommend the family suites at the
Art of Animation resort. It is farther from Magic Kingdom, but the suites include a private bedroom, two full bathrooms and a kitchenette. There is a pull-down queen-sized bed in the living room/dining area, and the sofa makes a bed.
The grounds of the resort are heaven for young children. I was there last fall with my 3-year-old nephew, and he loved walking among the scenes and giant statues of his favorite characters from
Cars,
The Lion King,
Finding Nemo and
The Little Mermaid. Plus, the Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation is a delight.
