    Our family will be heading to WDW Nov 16th for our first trip. What pirate events are available for our 7yr old son? We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

    Hi Sheila! Sounds like you have a little pirate in the house and a trip to Walt Disney World will be loads of fun for him!

    There are two great pirate experiences that are amazing. The first is the Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom. This is where your son can have a make-over into his favorite character. They will add pirate makeup and give him a pirate name and swear him into the pirate family.  My grandson has done this several times and they do a great job.  I suggest you opt for the costume as it really does make a great finishing touch on the look. You can purchase it when you arrive for your appointment and yes, reservations are a must. He will be invited to participate in the daily pirate parade and they will give you information about the time and location for this the day of his appointment.

    The second great pirate opportunity is the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise. These take off from the Contemporary Resort nightly. This can change from month to month so please check the latest schedule for the time of your vacation. The cruise begins with some character meet and greets on land before you take to the high seas of Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. You will have a pirate host who will entertain his crew with games, jokes, and trivia before all settle down to watch the great fireworks show in the Magic Kingdom from the boat. Other added surprises are included but if I told you they wouldn't be surprises!
