My family will be heading to Disney at the beginning of May and are getting very excited! How early can I park at Animal Kingdom if the park opens at 9am (no extra magic hours)? Thanks!!

    Bonjour Cathy,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for visiting us again. I don’t doubt that you’re excited to be heading back to Walt Disney World Resort this May - that’s next month, now!

From my experience, the parking lots at the various Theme Parks usually open at least 90 minutes (and sometimes even 2 hours) before the Parks open. So, to use your example, if Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park opens at 9:00 am the day you plan to visit, you should be able to park there by 7:30 am at the latest, and may even be able to arrive at around 7:00 am. This early arrival time will be extremely important if you’re planning to ride Avatar Flight of Passage first thing in the morning in the “standby” queue.

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel during your upcoming visit, I would recommend asking your Lobby Concierge what time the Theme Parks will be available for parking during your visit. If you aren’t staying “on site”, I would recommend asking at Guest Relations at any of the Theme Parks or Disney Springs for parking times during your visit.

I hope my answer helps you plan your vacation. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us before your trip if you have any other questions!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
