Hi Whitney!
Welcome back to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by to see us again as you continue to plan for your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort! Since you're approaching the final few weeks before your trip, you may want to take a minute to check out some
cute countdown ideas your family may enjoy. From themed movie nights to countdown chains, there are some great tips!
Whitney, I was just in the parks earlier this month with my family of five and had some similar situations to what you're describing. While I love the convenience of making three
Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections seven days before checking into our Disney Resort Hotel, my kids changed their minds about a few rides when our time in the parks rolled around. I'm happy to share that modifying your plans in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App is a very simple process!
I would suggest that you book a very family-friendly ride as your first choice of the day and book it as early as you can. As you already know, each time you tap in at a Lightning Lane entry, it unlocks the ability to book an additional selection based on availability. However, that first Lightning Lane "tap in" is even more important as it gives you the option to modify your other pre-arrival selections to other Group One attractions and/or select attractions from other parks if your tickets include the
Park Hopper Option. As an example, we grabbed attractions like
Na'vi River Journey at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and
The Seas with Nemo and Friends at EPCOT as our first selections of the day. These are also located near the front of the parks, so they were quick to get to as well!
Now, let's say you book something more adventurous during your day that you think your little one will want to ride - like
Slinky Dog Dash at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I've certainly been there before where one of my kids changes their mind just moments before it's time to get in line. Rather than juggling
MagicBands or tickets to tap in, you can simply cancel the Lightning Lane pass for those not riding. When I did this during our trip, I waited until everyone who was going to ride tapped in, and then I went back into the app and clicked on the Lightning Lane selection (it was still showing in my plans since not everyone had used it yet). Then, with a few simple clicks on my phone, I was able to cancel the pass and make a new selection for everyone! The only time this won't work is with that very first Lightning Lane selection. The first choice of the day actually has to be
redeemed before it unlocks your ability to park hop and select additional Group One attractions. If you run into any issues with your Lightning Lane selections, keep an eye out for Guest Experience Cast Members under the blue umbrellas located around the parks - they are super helpful!
Whitney, I hope this information has been useful as you continue to plan for your magical visit! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!
Cheers,
Kristi
