Hi Amanda,
Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I am happy to help you to think about planning your first visit to Walt Disney World.
October is a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World! The temperatures are starting to cool down from the heat of summer. There are fabulous events at Walt Disney World at this time, including the
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. October is truly one of my favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World.
In order to start preparing for your visit, I suggest that you watch the
Walt Disney World planning video. This will start to show you what to expect at the theme parks and information about Walt Disney World.
Typically, I like to visit Walt Disney World for a full week. When I am on vacation, I like to really relax and enjoy myself. A full week allows at least a day for each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, as well as some extra time to revisit a park or two if you like. A week also allows for a visit to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach, the waterparks, as well as some time at Disney Springs. And if you ask my family, a week gives you time to do one of our favorite things on vacation - relax and enjoy our Walt Disney World resort hotel! Of course, you can enjoy Walt Disney World for a different length of time; I just prefer a week.
I would love to help you plan more Amanda; however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer. Please do write back if you have any further questions!
