We are a family four and mom and big sister age 9 both have disabilities and are unable to walk. I would like some help planning the perfect park adventure

    Dear Tori,

I am happy to hear that you are planning a trip to the Walt Disney World® Resort with your family. There are a number of ways that Disney provides support for guests with disabilities! My family has come to truly value these services. Let's talk through some options that may be helpful to you.

First, review the comprehensive description of services for guests with disabilities with particular attention to the Accessibility Planning Guide & Recommendations. Since it sounds like you will have at least two guests with wheelchairs or electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs), I suggest booking a Disney Resorts Collection hotel room that is wheelchair accessible. I would also suggest requesting a room on the first floor or that has easy access to the resort elevators. With two wheelchairs or ECVs, you also want to be sure you reserve a room that can accommodate both. Consider a family suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. These also have two bathrooms.

Next, take a look at the theme park guide maps for guests with disabilities. These are especially helpful to see info related to accessible transportation, mobility access information for attractions, and companion restrooms. So take a look at the guide map for each park and make note of the specific info that might be helpful for your family.

As you plan for each day in the parks, remember to give yourself plenty of time to navigate the crowds. If you are staying locally, I would give yourself at least an hour and a half to get to the parks. Finding parking or using Resort Transportation if you are staying at a Disney resort hotel could take some time. We love resort transportation but know that we need to give ourselves time to use it. Also review the specific info about services for guests with mobility disabilities, particularly the info about accessing attractions if you are in a wheelchair or ECV.

Tori, we always make at least a few advanced dining reservations. We love dining reservations because they give us a definitive time to eat and we appreciate having a set time to take a break together. Since you are planning well in advance, you should have plenty of time to review the information, make some notes, and consider options. Of course, a little extra pixie dust never hurts, so I am sprinkling some, trusting that your trip is incredible!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
