We are a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children age (girl) 6 and (boy) 8. We are looking at booking a holiday to DW but have never been. What's the best way to book, where to stay, what to do, would one week be long enough or 10 days or two weeks etc

    Hi Teresa!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!

I'll start with the easiest question first.  I think for a first trip, one week would be enough though you can easily fill up 10 days at the Walt Disney World Resort, especially if you do some of the things outside of the parks.

Since it is your first trip, I highly recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it if full of information without being overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.

To help you plan your vacation, I suggest stopping by the independent website MouseSavers.com.  That's the first place I stop when planning my own Disney vacation.  You will get a good feel of the prices of the various resort hotels and how the pricing changes during the year.  That can help you decide where to stay if you are on a budget.

With regards of what to do,  I would definitely recommend visiting all four theme parks.  While the Magic Kingdom is probably the favorite of most children, all of the parks have attractions for the entire family to enjoy.  I know that may sound strange if your only experience is with regional amusement parks, but it is true.  Walt Disney World was designed with the whole family in mind.

Our responses are limited in length, but I hope this gets you started.  I would be happy to help more.  You can send a question directly to me!
