Hi Rhiannon! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Oh, how I understand the sinking feeling that comes with kids getting sick right before vacation! It has happened to us a few times, but somehow it always turns out fine ... after I have my moment of panic, of course. Ha!
First, if my kids come down with a sickness or tummy trouble before our
Walt Disney World Resort vacation, I always get them in for a last-minute visit to their doctor to try to get ahead of whatever is causing the problem, as well as get any advice for traveling. I also make sure they are getting lots of fluids, and for stomach issues, I pick up some bland foods like crackers or plain cereal for them to munch during our travel day.
It is always difficult to make a judgment call to cancel or postpone a vacation that you have worked so hard to plan and have been so excited for it, but if your "mom" senses tell you that you need to, I would give
Disney a call directly at (407) 939-5277 to discuss options. If you find yourself at your
Disney Resort hotel with a sick little one, call the
Front Desk for help regarding local Urgent Care locations. They are incredibly helpful when it comes to making sure Guests are taken care of! Once, my husband sprained his ankle while out for a run at our Disney Resort hotel, and they sent up ice packs and checked on him a few times to make sure he was OK. They are really great!
I hope all is well and that you end up having a wonderful (and healthy!) vacation, Rhiannon! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
