Hi there Tara! Welcome back to planDisney. It sounds like you’re planning a wonderful trip to
Walt Disney World with your family, and I love that you’re thinking ahead to make sure everyone has a magical time. With your youngest child’s needs in mind and so many great ways to enjoy the parks together, I’d be happy to help you navigate Rider Switch and other options to make your visit as smooth and special as possible.
Rider Switch is a really helpful service, especially for families like yours where one child may not be able to experience every attraction.
Here’s how it works. When your family approaches an attraction that your youngest can’t or doesn’t want to ride, just let the Cast Member at the entrance know you'd like to use Rider Switch. One adult will stay behind with your youngest while the rest of the group rides first. Once that group returns, the adult who waited can then ride without waiting in the full line again.
You and your husband can both enjoy the attraction. For example, you could ride with your two older kids while your husband waits, and then he can ride with those same two kids while you stay with your youngest. It’s a flexible system and the Cast Members are happy to help you make it work based on your family’s preferences.
If your youngest has sensory or cognitive needs that qualify, you might also want to explore the
Disability Access Service (DAS). That, combined with Rider Switch, can really make your day in the parks more manageable and enjoyable. Let me know if you’d like more info on how that works too.
Tara, I hope this helps you feel more confident and prepared as you plan your Disney World adventure with your family. With Rider Switch and other helpful services, you’re set to create wonderful memories together, full of magic and joy. Thanks again for reaching out to planDisney, if any other questions come up, we’re always here to support you. Wishing you an unforgettable and truly magical vacation!
Kay
