We are a family of 5 on our first trip to WDW in the beginning of May (I think I'm more excited then the kids age 15, 13 and 9) we have made dinner reservations, staying 5 nights. Wondering how much to bring for lunches and souviners and any other extras.

Hi Brandy! I always get excited hearing about a family taking their first trip to Walt Disney World! It is a place that I love to go more then anywhere else. I get there and forget reality for just those few days and relax and refresh! Let's start with the souvenirs. You will and can go crazy buying all the neat stuff in the shops so I suggest you set a limit with the kids and give them a certain amount before you go. I suggest you pre order Disney giftcards with an amount on them and then it lets the children be responsible for their own choices. The amount is a personal one and can be $50, $100, $200....choice is up to you. Prices are high for things at Disney but generally it is also quality merchandise and certainly unique. Food is expensive but typical for vacation destinations. My suggestion is to look through the menu prices to get an idea of what a typical lunch might cost ordering food that you might choose. You can do this by going to allears.net and searching MENUS. The prices can change but this will give you a great idea about what your costs will be. If you think you will want to do some recreation you will need to prepare for that as well. Renting Sea Raycers, fireworks cruises, carriage rides, Disney Quest etc will be extra so consider about $500 for a family of five. This would allow you one or two special activities. Your trip will arrive soon.....have a countdown on your refrigerator and get the entire family excited!
