Our family is so excited for our upcoming pirate and mermaid vacations on Disney Cruise Line and want some tips on dressing up, we hear Autumn is highly recommended!

Ahoy there, Jess! Welcome to planDisney!

I love to hear that you are excited about your upcoming Disney Cruise! There is so much to look forward to, especially if you are booked on a Halloween on the High Seas sailing. With the arrival date you provided, I think you might be booked on a Halloween-themed cruise, but you can double-check to see if your reservation is listed as such by signing in on the Disney Cruise Line website or the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App and reviewing your reservation.

With a Halloween on the High Seas cruise, plan to pack a Halloween costume! One night will be set aside during your sailing to celebrate all things trick-or-treat. Adults are encouraged to join in the fun too and you may even see an adult-exclusive Halloween costume party and contest listed as one of the activities onboard.

Most itineraries also include a Pirate Night, so pack your best buccaneer duds and prepare to party like a pirate. There will be pirate-themed activities offered throughout the day, a dinner menu fit for a swashbuckling crew, and a deck party that ends with treasure in the sky (AKA fireworks)! If you don't have anything in your wardrobe that gives off proper pirate vibes, don't worry... you'll find some pirate-themed merchandise for sale on the ship. You may even wish to book a pirate-themed makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. On Pirate Night, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique turns into Pirate's League! Reservations can be made using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App once your Onboard Activities Booking Window opens.

Jess, if you really love to dress up, consider packing some formal wear for an optional "Dress Up" night onboard. I like to get my whole family to wear formal clothing and take a photo in the Atrium (or Grand Hall, depending on the ship) as a souvenir and a way to commemorate the vacation. If you'd like to take advantage of the many photo opportunities onboard, you may wish to book a photography package before you set sail. You can enjoy a pre-booking discount if you add a photo package to your reservation at least 3 days before your cruise begins.

I hope this information helps you prepare for a magical time at sea! Please visit planDisney again if you have more questions. My pals and I are here to help.

    Enjoy your Disney Cruise!
