Our family of eight is spending a week between Christmas and New Years. We are staying in the tree house villas and wonder if we should rent a car for transportation around the resort. We don't want to spend a lot of time looking or waiting for buses.

    Hi Gregg!

Walt Disney World in December is a magical time to visit!  I LOVE all the holiday decorations!  While I've found the Disney Transportation System to be extremely efficient, I think you've answered your own question--you don't want to spend time looking or waiting for buses

The transportation system is excellent--BUT there are times where you might be waiting for a bus--could be up to 20 minutes.  Although I've rarely experienced a 20 minute wait, it can happen.  Generally at peak times (such as between Christmas and New Years) the buses are out in full force to transport guests to their destinations as quickly as possible.

If you do plan on renting a car, make sure to get yourself as familiar with the resort area as possible, otherwise your time spent NOT waiting for the bus could be spent driving around lost!  Also remember you will likely taking trams from your parking spot to the park entrance whereas riding the bus would drop you off right at the park entrance.

Hope you have a magical vacation,
    Amanda
