My family and I will be there during the Christmas holiday. Will there be fireworks around the princess castle and parades at this time? What precautions have been put in place since COVID-19. Will Fast Passes continue?

    Hi Crystal!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I'm very happy to see that you have a vacation planned for Christmas this year.  This is one of my favourite times of the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort.  The Christmas decorations are beautiful, and I especially enjoy visiting some of the Disney Resort hotels to see their decorated lobbies.  The infamous gingerbread house (yes, made with real gingerbread shingles) at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is definitely worth a visit, and last year at Disney's Wilderness Lodge they presented their first ever gingerbread cabin.   Please note that currently you may only visit another Disney Resort hotel if you have a dining reservation there.  These can be made online up to 60 days in advance.

At this time the parades and fireworks are temporarily paused, and we don't yet know if some of our favourite events, parades and fireworks will be re-introduced later this year, as it is an ever-changing situation.  In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy some of the new character events, outlined here.  FastPass+ is also suspended and unavailable until further notice.  Cinderella Castle can still be enjoyed - have a look at her beautiful makeover!

Theme park reservations - the new Disney Park Pass system - will be required for every day you wish to visit a Walt Disney World theme park.  This is in addition to your admission tickets, so as soon as you have purchased your tickets, please ensure you have set up your My Disney Experience Account and linked both your tickets and your Disney Resort hotel reservation, to your account, then you can go ahead and make your Disney Park Pass reservations now.  Reservations can be made up until September 2021.  As each Disney Park Pass has limited availability, I recommend that you go ahead and select your passes at your earliest opportunity.

At this time, during the phased re-opening of Walt Disney World, we may need a little more considered and careful planning, but our holidays to Walt Disney World Resort can still be a magical experience.  Please read this information about Returning to a World of Magic, and keep your eye on any new posts from the Disney Parks Blog as more official details are announced.

We know you have many questions about what this all means for your upcoming visit.  Please know we are working to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, and we look forward to providing an update as soon as we have more information to share.  Come back and ask as many questions as you like!  We are always happy to help you plan your vacation.
