My family and I are dressing up Star Wars themed for our first ever Oogie Boogie Bash! We are all very excited, but reading the costume guidelines I’m wondering if the Jedi cloak they sell at Disneyland (that my husband will be wearing) is allowed?

    Hiya, Lauren! Welcome to planDisney!

What a fantastic way to celebrate your very first Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party—arriving in style with your full Star Wars crew! I can already picture your family stepping into Disney California Adventure Park ready to channel the Force while enjoying all the spooktacular sights, treats, and surprises of the night. Pairing the Halloween magic with a galaxy far, far away is such a creative way to make your debut Bash even more memorable.

I have great news for you, Lauren! Your husband’s Jedi cloak should be just fine, as long as it doesn’t reach or drag along the ground. That way he’ll be able to duel the Dark Side, protect the galaxy, and grab lots of frightfully fun snacks without tripping over his robe. Of course, all costumes are ultimately up to the discretion of the Cast Members at security, but based on the Disneyland Resort dress code for special events, he should be good to go. And yes—lightsabers are typically allowed! Just be sure any props or accessories you may bring don't resemble actual weapons, since anything that looks a little too real will need to stay back on Tatooine.

When it comes to layered or flowy pieces, they’re technically allowed, but it’s best to keep them simple since extra fabric can sometimes mean additional security screening. After all, you don’t want to slow down the line like you’re stuck in a traffic jam on the Kessel Run—you’ll want to get right to the fun!

Since this is your first time at Oogie Boogie Bash, here are a few insider tips to make the most of your night: don’t miss the immersive treat trails, where candy and character encounters go hand-in-hand (and villains are always up to a little mischief!). Be sure to catch the Frightfully Fun Parade, led by the Headless Horseman himself—it’s a spooktacular highlight. I also heard that the Villains Grove walk-through in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is a must-see, filled with lights, sounds, and a little extra Disney magic that feels like stepping into a spell. I actually missed Villains Grove on my first visit because I was having too much fun soaking up the spooky vibes throughout the park—so this year, it’s at the very top of my must-do list. And finally, I recommend arriving early so you’ll have plenty of time to soak up all the Halloween ambiance.

Lauren, with these tips, your family will be ready to trick, treat, and make memories from here to hyperspace. Wishing you a night of galactic goodies, spooktacular sights, and plenty of Disneyland Halloween magic. May the spells—and the Force—be with you!
