Cassi from WA Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Me and my family will be in Disneyland in December and we’ve never gone in the winter always summer. Do the water rides(splash mountain, grizzly river run) close for the winter? Thank you!

    How do you do, Cassi?

When my family and I are “lookin' for a little more adventure,” when we’re “headin' for a little bit of fun now,” when we’re “hopin' for a little more excitement,” it’s “time to be movin' along” to Splash Mountain. That exciting attraction featuring Brer Rabbit and Grizzly River Run are two of our favorite attractions, especially on a nice, hot day. Even though the air is a bit cooler, these two water attractions are usually still open during the month of December. It is common for one of them at a time to be closed for refurbishment in January and February. Though schedules are subject to change, generally, you will be able to have a splashin’ good time on at least one of these attractions during your visit to the Disneyland Resort.

Tony’s Tip: Grizzly River Run tends to have a few thrilling water surprises. To keep your cameras, phones, and other belongings dry, you may utilize complimentary lockers located near the entrance to the attraction.

The five-story drop into Brer Rabbit’s briar patch featured on Splash Mountain is one of the greatest thrills at the Disneyland Resort. And it also comes with one of the nicest rewards: an attraction Disney PhotoPass photo that you can preview on monitors as you exit the attraction. Access your photograph right there at Disneyland Park by entering the eight-character attraction ID located on the photo monitor into the Disneyland app. Your photo may be purchased and downloaded from the Disneyland website or from right inside the Disneyland app. When you purchase Disney MaxPass with your theme park tickets, unlimited downloads of your PhotoPass photos are complimentary!

Tony’s Tip: Not surprisingly, cooler evenings tend to have much shorter lines for Splash Mountain. Though not guaranteed, this can be a great time to request that you experience this attraction in a log with only your immediate party. Strike a pose and enjoy a PhotoPass photo worthy of hanging on your living room wall!

“How do you do? Mighty pleasant greetin'. Pretty good sure as you're born!” Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah time, Cassi!
