Hey howdy hey, Kelly, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I love helping my fellow Californians plan their dream visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
This summer is such
an exciting time to visit the Disneyland Resort – there’s so much to see and do! As for parades, the beloved
Mickey’s Soundsational Parade ends its run
on July 17, 2019. Currently, the next parade scheduled to join the lineup in Disneyland Resort is the
Main Street Electrical Parade, which will arrive at Disneyland Park for a limited-time encore engagement beginning August 2, 2019, with nightly performances through September 30, 2019. So, unfortunately, as far as I can see on the current
Entertainment Schedule, it doesn’t look like there will be any parades during your August visit.
However, there is still plenty for you and your family to do! As a mom of three little Mouseketeers, I’m happy to share my family’s top picks for two days filled with summer fun! During our visit to the parks last week, my 3, 5, and 7-year-old couldn’t get enough of
Disney Junior Dance Party!, featuring Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, Timon, and even Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Plus, it’s air-conditioned, which is a huge win for parents on a warm summer day! Also, be sure to check out the new outdoor musical production, “Tale of the Lion King.” All three of my children were mesmerized by this beautifully-told tale. I recommend catching a show earlier in the day, or later afternoon, so you aren’t too warm, since this show doesn’t have much shade.
Over in Disneyland Park, my children are obsessed with the newest land –
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. My oldest son
built a droid and can’t stop playing with him, even three weeks later. The perfect way to end your day is with the return of the classic Disneyland Forever fireworks. The show can be late for toddlers, but if they can hang in there, I guarantee it’s worth it!
I’m also happy to report that most attractions at the Disneyland Resort theme parks are family-friendly. The easiest way to map out your “must-do” attractions ahead of time is the handy filtering tool on the
Attractions page. You can measure your Mouseketeers ahead of time and filter by height, or filter by “Preschoolers” under the “Age Interest” filter option. It can be helpful to know which attractions will work for your toddlers ahead of time, so they don’t get their hopes up, only to be told they’re not tall enough to ride.
Wishing you a vacation filled with magic and wonder!
