My family and I are going to Disney World for the 1st time as a family. It will be Me, my husband, and our 18 month old. I can't decide what type fo bag i should carry in the parks. Should I use a back pack or a small crossbody purse and small diaper bag?

Hi Lauren! The trick to having the best day possible in the Disney parks is to carry as little as possible when traveling with a small child.  You will see so many families trying to bring everything except the kitchen sink and they are constantly stressed over their bags and gear.

Minimize the essentials. Remember that you can always purchase more diapers if needed or a change of clothes if an accident happens. Trust me I have had to do this on occasion and it was very easy to find new duds to buy for the rest of the day versus heading back to the resort.  Each park will have a Baby Center where you can find essentials to purchase if you find you need them or run out.

As far as food goes you will need to bring only non-perishables to the parks and especially during the hot days of summer.  The parks do not offer any cooking facilities so snacks such as finger food cereals and crackers are great.  Fruit is also a super food to bring but don't weigh yourself down with a lot as you can also find places to purchase an apple or banana.  Bring some sort of drink for your little one whether it be juice or water. As far as full meals, it is so much easier to buy in the parks at either the quick service locations or a table service restaurant. Trying to bring sandwiches and foods such as this is quite cumbersome and not always practical due to the heat.

I suggest you either do the backpack or a small diaper bag.  Some sort of carrying apparatus that keeps everything in one container is best versus several. When riding on some of the attractions you might have to leave the backpack or bag in the stroller so do not use it to store your valuables. Whether you are more comfortable with something on your back or carrying a bag is up to you. Our family usually goes the backpack route so our hands are always free.

Hope this helps with your planning....I am sure you will have more questions as you plan for your first visit.
